Italy has begun the tendering process for four sections of the Pedemontana Lombarda road project, worth €2.30bn($2.8bn).

Italian highway firm Pedemontana Lombarda has given its approval for the project, which involves over 100km of highways, local roads and cycle tracks.

The highway and roadworks are scheduled to begin in 2011 and are expected to be completed by 2014.

The tender offers will be accepted before the first week of October 2010, according to worldhighways.com.
