The completed second phase of the Al Mafraq Bridge in Abu Dhabi, UAE, which involves five motorways, will be opened this month.

With the opening of the new motorways, the existing detours will be gradually removed, according to gulfnews.com.

In the third phase, three more motorways will be opened next month while the fourth phase, which marks the completion of the project, will be opened in October.

On completion, the Al Mafraq Bridge is expected to replace an existing bridge, which is now closed.

The entire project is 85% complete and features several bridges, lanes and bypass roads along with new interchanges.

The Dh753m ($204.9m) project, which began in 2008, is expected to improve traffic flow in the Emirate.
