Kirklees Council in the UK plans to introduce traffic calming measures as part of road safety initiatives undertaken in the region.

The traffic calming measures to be introduced on a main Mirfield road are intended to reduce traffic and combat the problems of speeding.

The measures include red high-friction surface patches in 29 places, which will make noise when driven over, along with five new traffic islands and warning signs to come.

The council plans to install two mini-roundabouts on junctions, along with more high-friction surfaces and build outs on the approach to roundabouts in the surrounding area.

Work will commence in October this year following public consultation, according to mirfieldreporter.co.uk.
