London Live, a UK-based television channel, has partnered with Waze, a community-based traffic and navigation app, to provide live traffic updates to commuters in the city.

The service is expected to launch in mid-August this year.

A crowd-sourced navigation application, Waze can be downloaded on smart phone devices for free.

"It is hugely important that we provide the most update to date information to our viewers so that we can enable Londoners to plan or re-route their journeys if necessary particularly around major events around the capital."

The application is used by more than 50 million users across the globe, who provide road data within the app in real time.

London Live head of news and current affairs Jim Grice was quoted by localtvnetwork.org.uk as saying: “We are thrilled that we have partnered with Waze, using this service we will enable our viewers to directly share their traffic news with the London Live audience and contribute to what we hope will become the most comprehensive and dynamic traffic news resource for London.

“London is a dynamic cosmopolitan city which is home to over 8.5million people.

"It is hugely important that we provide the most update to date information to our viewers so that we can enable Londoners to plan or re-route their journeys if necessary particularly around major events around the capital.”

Viewers of this channel will receive traffic updates in real-time during morning as well as evening peak hours.
