Tata Steel Construction Products Steel Products for the Road Traffic Industry

Tata Steel Construction Products (formerly Corus Construction and Engineering Products) has over 50 years’ experience in the design of highways containment solutions that have been comprehensively tested and manufactured to the highest quality standards to guarantee optimum performance.

Steelmaking for the road traffic industry

Tata Steel Europe (formerly Corus) is Europe’s second largest steel producer. With main steel-making operations in the UK and the Netherlands, the company supplies steel and related services to the construction, automotive, packaging, material handling and other demanding markets worldwide.

As a subsidiary of Tata Steel, one of the world’s top ten steel producers, the combined group has an aggregate crude steel capacity of more than 28 million tonnes and has approximately 80,000 employees across four continents.

Highway restraint products

Combining safety, performance and installation efficiency, Tata Steel Highways is bringing international brands together for the first time. As a dedicated division of Tata Steel Construction Products, our innovative range of highway restraint products offer customers a complete end-to-end solution. These products include:

  • Vetex™ safety barrier
  • Protect 365® parapet
  • P4 end terminals and transitions
  • Lighting columns and sign posts
  • Off road safety barrier

These products have been expertly developed and comprehensively tested to increase safety on modern highways. Fully compliant to EN1317 standards, our products deliver passive safety benefits to all road users whilst offering lifetime value.

Untensioned barrier systems for high-speed applications

Vetex safety barrier is a pioneering range of untensioned barrier systems suitable for high-speed applications. Our system has been specifically designed to enable ease of installation and is fully compatible with traditional barrier systems.

Suitable for all ground types, Vetex requires little or no maintenance and includes N2, H2, and end terminals together with the VT100 parapet transition.

Road restraint systems

The Protect 365® family represents a new generation of road restraint systems that whole-heartedly embrace the spirit and intent of the EN 1317 standard and the ethos of passive safety.

Through rigorous development we have produced a system that can rightly be considered a major safety achievement. The high-energy absorption of Protect 365® during impacts has been proven to minimise injury levels and increase the safety of drivers and passengers.

Steel lighting columns for road safety

Tata Steel boasts more than 60 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of steel lighting columns. Our product portfolio includes a range of tubular columns from 3m to 12m heights, together with a variety of shaft and base diameters to suit individual customer requirements.

Tata Steel supplies a wide range of bracket arms with a unique column to shaft connection. Our columns come with rounded doors, a double lock for extra security can be requested on demand.

Each column is hot-dipped galvanised and we offer a wide range of polysiloxane paint finishes, including glass flake epoxy and various MIO solutions

Highways restraint system

Safety is at the heart of our system designs, and with pioneering use of advanced simulation technology, Tata Steel can satisfy the future safety demands of road design. Using advanced simulation technology, we can accurately predict the behaviour of safety barrier and parapets with modern vehicles in various impact scenarios.

This innovative and thorough approach to research and development provides Tata Steel with an in-depth knowledge of impact behaviour, knowledge that has enabled us to design an evolutionary highways restraint system.
