The Nigerian federal government has approved N13bn ($84m) for renovations on the Abakaliki-Mbok road.

Under the plan, the Abakaliki-Mbok-Ogoja junction of route 25/A343 will be rebuilt and Ikom-Ifum section of route 90/A4-2 in Ebonyi will be repaved.

Nearly N7bn ($45m) for the project would come from local funding and $38.9m from foreign fundings.

The road is expected to improve links between Nigeria and Cameroon as well as other Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) countries.
