The Roads and Highways Ministry of Ghana is to introduce a computerised toll collection system to keep a check on toll revenue collections.

The system will first be tested on the Accra-Tema Motorway before it is implemented across the country by this year end.

The new system will only allow those drivers to cross the road who pay the correct toll fees.

Frequent toll road users will be able to buy tickets with specific validity periods recognised by the automatic system.

The ministry will also set up a task force to help operate the system.

The planned toll collection booths will be set up on all major roads to prevent their concentration in one area.
