The Government of Canada, the province of Manitoba and the city of Winnipeg have unveiled a C$54.7m plan to extend Kenaston Boulevard to the south Perimeter Highway in the city.

The extension, part of the Waverley West Arterial Roads project, will get one-third of the total funds required from the Canadian Government with a maximum federal grant of C$18.2m.

Nearly C$15m will come from the Province and the remaining C$21.5m from the government of Winnipeg.

Work includes building two interchanges, road widening and realigning the existing roads along Waverley Street and Kenaston Boulevard in the city.

Construction work is expected to begin by the end of this year and finish in 2011.
