The Alabama state senate in the US has diverted a ten-year $1bn roads bill aimed at improving roads and bridges.

The bill, once made into a law, would allow 75% of the funds to be allocated towards construction, maintenance and repair of highways, roads and bridges.

From this, about 25% is expected to be spent on building and renovating local roads, according to theplainsman.com.

Extension of the bridge on Moores Mill Road is one of the major projects in the Alabama transportation projects plan.
