Construction work on the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge in the US is nearing completion and will be open for traffic in November, the Federal Highway Administration has said.

The bridge portion of the bypass has been officially named the Mike O’Callaghan and Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.

The $114m bypass bridge, part of a total $240m bypass project, will have a four-lane divided highway, replacing a narrow road.

Once opened, the bridge is expected to carry traffic from US 93 from Phoenix to Vegas in an average of 17 minutes.

The 1,900ft concrete arch bridge has concrete-steel in the arch and also offers views of the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Black Canyon Gorge.
