Highways England (HE) has installed a new video wall system at its control centre to monitor traffic moving under Hindhead road tunnel.

Opened in 2011, Hindhead tunnel is located on A3 London to Portsmouth road.

It is a 6.5km bypass dual stretch.

"Reliability and being easy to service are key in such an important control center, and the new video wall ensures that the latest technology is being used to aid traffic management."

Eyevis UK managing director Steve Murphy was quoted by Installation-international.com as saying: “The Hindhead Tunnel was constructed to reduce congestion and vehicle emissions, and we are delighted to have been involved in such an important project to update the technology being used.

The HE control centre is equipped with a video wall. This wall monitors images from over 100 CCTV cameras and assesses the data supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.

Electrosonic, a UK-based audio-visual systems integrator, chose German manufacturer Eyevis for installation of new video wall.

Electrosonic chose Eyevis LED-illuminated DLP 50-inch HD Slim Cube rear projection system after carrying out technical evaluations.
