In a landmark decision, the House and the Senate of the US have approved a bill that will allow the Texas Department of Transportation to spend $2bn in bonds on road projects.

Besides other Texas cities, the fund will help mitigate traffic congestions in El Paso, the sixth largest city in Texas.

About $1bn will be utilised for the loop in El Paso to connect the Cesar Chavez Border Highway to I-10 near Canutillo in Texas.

The bill will come into force once signed by the Governor.
