The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) and the US Department of Transportation have developed an online tool kit to help companies tackle distracted driving and improve the road safety of employees.

The 2010 Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW) tool kit is designed to provide a comprehensive online resource to employees driving as part of their job or commuting to work.

The free kit provides web-based resources, which include interactive tools, downloadable graphics and daily communications messages.

The campaign is intended to support employer efforts to prepare employees for the launch of a corporate mobile device policy, according to NETS.

A recent US Government study estimated that employers lose $60bn per year as a result of employee traffic crashes, both on and off the job.

DSWW is observed across the US each year during the first full week of October; the theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Focus… Safe driving is serious business’.
