US-based technical and management support services provider, AECOM, has announced that it has secured an eight-year highways contract worth around $500m from Transport for London (TfL).

Under the new contract, AECOM and its joint venture partner FM Conway will offer design and engineering services for one of the four new area-based highway contracts under the London Highways Alliance contracts.

The project comprises work in the boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.

AECOM chairman and chief executive officer John M. Dionisio said that the company looks forward to providing its innovative expertise as it works with FM Conway to deliver sustainable design consultancy, network operation and service delivery solutions to North West London.

"The project comprises work in the boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow."

The London Highways Alliance contracts, worth close to £2.6bn, are four area-based joint highway contracts that have been awarded to CVU, Ringway Jacobs, EnterpriseMouchel, as well as the Conway Aecom JV.

Jointly developed by TfL and the London Boroughs, the new contract frameworks include road maintenance, design and construction of new projects, lighting, winter maintenance and safety inspections.

AECOM is a global provider of professional technical and management support services to a wide range of markets, including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, water and government, with close to 45,000 employees across the world.

The company recently announced that a consortium, which features its Australian subsidiary, has secured a $1.05bn contract for a major road project, Gateway WA, in Western Australia.
