McCain has partnered with Phoenix Pacific to upgrade local intersection control software in Honolulu, Hawaii, US.

The company will upgrade traffic signal controller firmware from Program 200 to Program 233, on almost 800 intersections to improve the traffic infrastructure and functionality.

McCain ITS solutions manager Brian Wagner said: "There are countless benefits to having the entire island operating the same software programme."

"The upgrade will significantly extend the functionality of signal control operations by providing additional features and coordination parameters," added Wagner.

The services offered by the Program 200 were limited, whereas the new updated Program 233 will result in better traffic system functioning and will also increase citywide optimisation.

Program 233 is compatible with all the makes and models of the 170 controllers in the city and has an advanced set of features, which enables the system to manage and handle any traffic signal-related operation.

The updated system is deployed internationally for the reliability, safety, and efficiency that it brings.
