Swedish construction and property development company NCC has received a SEK739m ($112.5m) order to build part of the second longest suspension bridge in Norway.

Under the new contract, which will be registered during the second quarter of 2013, NCC will construct two connecting bridges and two pylons.

The pylons will be 170 meters high and will be slip cast in concrete by NCC’s own slip casting company.

The project is slated to be completed in 2017.

NCC Construction Norway district manager Tor Helge Nordstrøm said that the latest project is an ideal fit for the company, which has expertise in slip casting and concrete designs.

"Under the new contract, which will be registered during the second quarter of 2013, NCC will construct two connecting bridges and two pylons."

"We are extremely gratified to have been selected to participate in projects that will contribute to faster travel and thus also to a reduction in CO2 emissions," Nordstrøm said.

The bridge, which is scheduled to be completed in 2017, is part of the project that is aimed at making the E6 expressway between Narvik and Bjerkvik safer and accessible by shortening the road between the two cities by 18km.

The bridge will be a dual carriageway, and will feature pedestrian and bicycle paths.

NCC is a construction and property development company that develops and builds residential and commercial properties, industrial facilities and public buildings, roads, civil engineering structures and other types of infrastructure, primarily in the Nordic region.

In 2012, the company reported sales of SEK57bn ($8.67bn) and had 18,000 employees.
