Provider of traffic management technologies, Iteris, has purchased the assets and intellectual property of Hamilton Signals to expand its portfolio in the traffic management market.

The deal includes Hamilton’s proprietary Abacus system, a tool used by transport departments to collect traffic flow information.

Post sale of assets, Daniel Benhammou, the founder of Hamilton Signals, will act as Abacus product manager at Iteris.

Hamilton’s traffic analyser, a tool for traffic reporting and analysis, fits well into the Iteris suite as it can be used to interface with all existing sensor networks and databases.

The Iteris president and chief executive officer said the buyout should significantly increase its offering.

“This acquisition expands Iteris’s product portfolio in the traffic management market, which should enable us to provide a wide range of data-mining services to our public and private sector clients via our significant market presence and channels.”
