A consortium of Spanish, German, Czech and Irish companies have been awarded a PLN2.42bn ($726m) contract to construct a 75km stretch of the A1 highway from Torun to Lódz in Poland.

Ireland’s SRB Civil Engineering is expected to build a 30km stretch of the highway while the Polish-Czech consortium is expected to construct a 15.2km stretch.

A 9km section will be built by Polish firm Sando Budownictwo Polska and Spanish partner Construcciones Sanchez Dominguez-Sando.

A German consortium compromising of Johann Bunte Bauunternehmen, PRM Mosty-Lódz, Erbedim and Intercor will build the final 21km section of the road.
