A 9.8km road being built at a cost of BDT14.80bn ($208m) in the Hatirjheel area in Bangladesh will start taking traffic in December.

The road will be 78ft wide and is intended to link Hatirjheel’s Rampura area with the Tongi diversion road.

The Hatirjheel project also includes an expressway and a serviceable road and walkway, according to thefinancialexpress-bd.com.

Other works involved in the wider Hatirjheel project include an 8.8km road with the main diversion sewage line and the construction of six parabolic bridges.

The project is being delivered by the Special Works Organisation of the Bangladesh Army for the government body Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha, Dhaka Water and Sewerage Authority and the local government engineering department.
