The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) will open the new SH20-1 Manukau Extension motorway on 26 September this year.

The new motorway connects the Southwestern (SH20) and Southern Motorways (SH1) at Manukau City.

The $220m Manukau extension motorway project is a 4.5km, four-lane motorway, which is being opened progressively in three stages with the first phase already opened in August.

Work will be underway until December to complete the final section of the project, which includes constructing the connecting road between the Cavendish and Puhinui Interchanges.
