Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) has shortlisted nominees for the 2016 edition of the Low Carbon Champions Awards.

The awards celebrate innovation and best practice in the road transport sector to cut down carbon emissions.

Currently, the awards are in their sixth year and will for the third time be presented at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Milton Keynes.

"The LowCVP is at the centre of this exciting industry and we look forward to celebrating the UK’s continued leadership in this vital area."

This event, which is held in collaboration with Cenex, will be held on 14 September.

The awards celebrate innovative practice in the UK in accelerating the transition to lower carbon vehicles and fuels and reducing emission in road transport.

The LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards are one of a select few sustainable development award schemes that have secured accreditation from the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA). This enables category winners to go forward to the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE).

BMW, Iveco Ltd, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Tesla, Toyota GB PLC have been shortlisted for an award under the Low Carbon Car / Van Manufacturer of the Year category, which is being sponsored by Michelin.

Alexander Dennis Ltd, BYD Europe B.V., Scania Great Britain Ltd, have been shortlisted for an award under the Low Carbon Heavy Duty Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year category, which is being sponsored by Freight in the City.

Alphabet, Bibby Distribution, First Bus, John Lewis Partnership have been shortlisted for Low Carbon Vehicle Operator of the Year category, which is being sponsored by BAE Systems HybriDrive.

Argent Energy, CNG Fuels Ltd and National Grid Gas Distribution, ITM Power have been shortlisted for the Low Carbon Fuel Initiative of the Year category.

Three companies have been shortlisted under Low Carbon Innovation by an SME category, which is being sponsored by Advanced Propulsion Centre UK. The companies shortlisted include Microcab, Riversimple, and Tevva Motors.

Addison Lee, Gnewt Cargo Ltd, H2 Aberdeen, Reading Buses have been shortlisted for an award under the Low Carbon Road Transport Initiative of the Year category.

Cambridge Econometrics, EA Technology, Element Energy, Element Energy & the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) have been shortlisted for an award under the Low Carbon Publication or Report category.

"In many areas of transport technology has been developing at an extraordinary pace, and vehicle users are having to work hard just to keep up.
