Romania will receive €1.1bn ($1.4bn) in funds from the European Union (EU) for its 20 transport projects.

The major projects include construction of a €403m ($520m) Cernavoda-Constanta speedway and a €186m ($240m) Constanta bypass, according to financiarul.ro.

The work also involves rehabilitation of two of the country’s national roads, totalling €260m ($336m).

Romania is also expected to receive €5.7bn ($7bn) through the operational sectoral transport programme betweem 2007 and 2013.
