ACISA - Video Detection and Traffic Control Systems

Aeronaval de Construcciones e Instalaciones, S.A. (ACISA) was founded in 1978. Its initial activities were the supply of lighting and signalisation systems for airports, but other activities have since been added to that initial portfolio: installation and maintenance of traffic control systems (urban, road and tunnel), street lighting and telecommunications.

Since 1995, ACISA has incorporated its own technology into its services and installations such as video detection systems, traffic signal controllers and vehicle and pedestrian signals. ACISA combines technological research and development with services and products which include design and manufacturing, turnkey installations and maintenance work.

In December 2006 ACISA was acquired by the Spanish construction company ALDESA, with the aim of reinforcing its industrial branch.

VISIOWAY® VIDEO DETECTION SYSTEMS

ACISA markets, under the name Visioway, its collection of imaging processing technology products for traffic and transport applications.

The first of the family is Visioway OpenCounter. It is an 'all in one' video-based traffic data collection and incidents detector system. It allows areas to be configured over the field of view, and function as video detectors.

Video detectors can be of the following types:

• Presence detectors to provide data on the number of vehicles and the time they are occupying the area
• Tracking detectors sense the direction of circulation and can be used to detect traffic violations (forbidden turns, cars travelling in the wrong direction)
• Queue detectors, activated when vehicles are stopped in an area, occupying a configurable percentage

Visioway systems can be used in two ways: the video detectors can be associated with a digital output, or the equipment can use its non-volatile memory to store information concerning each area over a configurable period of time (these registers can be accessed by a control centre or by a laptop computer).

Visioway systems contain an embedded LINUX and include Ethernet connectivity, non-volatile memory (secure digital card) to store collected data, and streaming MPEG-4 video. The systems can be configured using only a web browser.

RTAC TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLER

ACISA has designed and manufactured the rtAC traffic signal controller, which is offered with diverse configurations (depending on the complexity of the junction to be controlled, the necessary output boards or its programs). Features include:

• Open architecture embedded FreeDOS / Linux operative system
• The controller can run in isolated, synchronized and centralized operational modes
• Many features for output control and security, such as burnt-out bulbs control, voltage control, green conflicts surveillance, conditioning of the power source and temperature control
• Storage of events and alarms in a non-volatile memory
• Control of traffic lights bulbs of distinct technologies – incandescence, halogen and LEDs – and any type of operating voltage both AC and DC
• The CPU board is based on a PC architecture (PC-104 form factor), which provides compatibility advantages, technological features, reliability and an increase in functionality

COMPACTLED VEHICLE AND PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS

COMPACTLED is the name of an innovative design that combines the traffic light's traditional concept with LED technology. Aesthetics have been considered in order to improve its integration in the modern urban environments. In addition, easiness for maintenance operations has been taken in consideration.
